Sandals Antigua with opportunities of adventure exploration and relaxation

When Jared and I first started talking about our honeymoon, both of us kind of wrote off going to a Caribbean resort. We figured if we were going to take a once in a life time trip we both wanted to do something that allowed for adventure and a chance to explore.  It was not until Cook Travel agent Denise Rowland, a friend of Jared’s, started showing us the benefits of staying at a Sandals Resort that we began to see the appeal. Following her advice, we booked a ten day stay at the Sandals Antigua. It has since become known to both of us as our “ten days in paradise”.  The Antigua Sandals Resort was AMAZING and by far beat all of our expectations.  After the stress and running around of the wedding, the nice, laid back vibe of the resort was exactly what we both needed; not to mention the ocean! That beautiful, crystal clear water seemed to wash away all the worries in the world.  To top it all off, the resort still offered the adventure and excitement Jared and I had both hoped to have in our honeymoon from the beginning.  During our stay at Sandals we took two different excursions. The first was a boat ride to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda, to see the Frigate birds. The island itself was totally worth the boat ride!  While we were eating lunch on the island a storm rolled in and made for some unbelievable views. The second excursion we took was an island tour of Antigua that was made up of a surprise visit to a donkey sanctuary; a visit to one of the islands only restored sugar mills; and then finally a kayak trip through a mangrove swamp and snorkeling off the coast of Bird Island.  On the days that we did not take planned excursions, we were still able to be adventurous by taking bus rides down to Antigua’s capital, St. Johns.

Besides being our honeymoon, Jared celebrated his birthday while we were there.  With the help of Denise, I ordered a special birthday cake that was delivered to our room on his birthday and surprised him with a candlelight dinner on the beach. It was perfect! The staff at the resort helped make his birthday special for both of us.

Overall, we could not have asked for a better honeymoon. The resort itself was beautiful.  The staff was wonderful and very pleasant to work with and be around.  The restaurants at the resort were fantastic and served a variety of great food. We are especially appreciate that Sandals offered us a Military discount based on Jared’s service.  Jared and I both know we will make a return trip to Sandals Antigua, it is only a matter of time.

Thank you Denise,

Stephanie and Jared
