The top five reasons why I love Sandals La Source are luxury, all inclusive, gourmet food, Caribbean blue waters, and swim-up bar pools! After 29 years of marriage and the raising of four children, I found myself yearning for a romantic destination that was all inclusive with luxury included to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I wanted place where my husband and I could reconnect and rediscover what drew us together so many years ago. Deciding to go to one of the top ten resorts for our magical vacation, we started to research Sandals properties in the Caribbean.
Grenada, the Spice Island, sits just a little north of Venezuela, surrounded by the turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. LaSource is nestled in lush greenery along the silky sand of Pink Gin Beach. Once decided, it was just a short conversation with my Sandals expert brother, Peter, to make our reservations and then wait for the months to go by as quickly as possible.
Just 10 minutes after exiting the airport we stepped off the Sandals transport bus to be were greeted by a butler who handed us a warm washcloth bathed in lemongrass. Entering the Club Member (which is so worth the club room category cost) was like visiting an old friend. We were greeted by the staff and offered a glass of champagne and friendly conversation as we snuggled into the comfy sofa to sign in to begin our seven-night stay in paradise. Can you just feel the relaxation settle in?
John and I stayed in the Pink Gin Beachfront Walkout Club Level Room. Sweet! Our room was little more than 100 feet from the calm water of the Caribbean Sea. The room sat a few ebony colored steps up from the sand with two lounge chairs, bistro table, and tranquility soaking tub to watch the stars sparkle at night. It was there that I sat every morning with my coffee (room service 7am – 10pm with club level), chirping birds, and morning breezes. Then there was the shower! This incredible walk-in shower for two came complete with a glass window into the bedroom. What? From that viewpoint you could look right out to the front bedroom window and see the beach and sea! Not to worry about your privacy though. the rooms are set up higher than ground floor so no one can see you! But oh the glorious views YOU can see! Luxury!
On most mornings we meandered over to Spices for our buffet breakfast complete with mimosas. Once or twice we breakfasted with eggs benedict, sausage, and fresh fruit at Le Jardinier. I think I’ll have to write a completely different blog on the restaurants so I don’t fill this page talking about scrumptious food!
Our seven days at LaSource went by far too quickly. We started our day walking right out of our room to the beach and sea. It never ceased to amaze me that we were never without a lounge chair in a resort of 225 rooms. We either snorkeled, kayaked, sailed, or paddle boarded every day. After lunch it was over to the large party pool by the South Seas Village to enjoy the music, volleyball, swim-up bar and Dino’s Pizza. We always ended our daylight hours with a quiet swim in the infinity pool overlooking the beach and sea and only a few paces from our room.
The evenings at LaSource were so romantic, filled with quiet interludes, gourmet food, wonderful wine, and breathtaking vistas. John and I walked the beautiful grounds, greeting to new friends, and enjoying the company of each other. I have promised a food blog, but would be remiss not to mention the astounding ambiance of Butch’s Chophouse right here. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with wagyu beef for a main entrée amidst twinkling lights strung through the trees. I hate to have to admit that my John loves to eat and managed to turn his dinner into a double with surf and turf! Our evening ended with dancing at the Living Room Piano Bar and, finally, the fire pit back at the infinity pool. Just us, a glass of wine and lots of love.
Selecting LaSource in Grenada was the best decision we could ever have made! It was luxurious, friendly and beautiful. That’s all inclusive with luxury included! And, yes, we did go back and to try out the Italian Village so stay tuned for my next blog.
